128: "The Mission"
On
December 10th 2001, Mike Stetson (my old Roughnecks supervisor) asked me
to join him and Jason Shulman at LA Studios in Burbank, for a Director's
Commentary on this episode. My "big scene" was the Autopsy Room segment
with Rico, Dizzy, a dead Impostor Bug, & the Autopsy Bot and I got
to talk about it briefly. It will be interesting to see what gets
removed from the final audio cut, since I commented about the fact that
a lot of the original beautiful color (purples and bio-luminescent cyans)
that Technical Director's such as Alex Carbonero sweated over to put into
the show. The desaturation was so bad in fact, that "Vector Squad"
who wore grey power suits had made a cameo appearance in this episode,
were almost indistinguishable from the normal green suited Roughnecks characters.
That much color was removed from the show for some unknown reason.
At
the end of the recording session, we were all given a complementary DVD
of the Teska Campaign, which was pretty cool of Sony. And no, you
don't get paid to do director's commentaries for DVD's.
The
good news is, that Sony has decided to release almost all of the Roughnecks
CG series to DVD, internationally. Look for "The Mission" and other
episodes to be released early in 2002. Hopefully this will spur me
to finally post some of the anims, stills and commentaries for the rest
of the shows I've worked on for this series... |
