3D Pinky Character
 Pink & Blue PSA:                                                                                                                         February  5th, 2013

I've been helping James Parris at Papertiger Films model and texture geometry for the lead character, "Pinky" in their gender segregation/equality PSA.  She's based on Barbie-esque dolls from Alexandria Fairchild Ford.  Daryl Hannah will be lending her voice and charm to the personality. Take a look at the video below to see what I've been up to...

Now that the model is complete and I've painted and baked out textures, we need to replace her proxy-hair cap with real render hairs, for this iconic styled character.  For more background and information regarding the "Pink & Blue" PSA, check out Papertiger's Pink & Blue Blog.

Maya is one of those programs where one can remain completely unaware of other parts of it, if you specialize in doing one thing.  It's a huge, complex application that can perform a wide variety of tasks.  Knowing how to better control  node dependencies (which means scripting in) Maya seems to be another good thing to know.  Currently reading "MEL Scripting for Maya Animators", by Mark R. Wilkins and Chris Kazmier.

Hands Free Segway  EVs & Segways:                                                                                                                                       March 31st, 2012

I moderate an EV Forum in my spare time and have witnessed a slow transformation occur in regards to Sustainable Mobility. Ever since I injured a knee, I've been using a modified Hands-Free Segway to get around to do local trips and errands; instead of using an oil-burning car.  I've almost got 12,000 miles on it!  It's also great for freaking out Tourists here in Venice.  I hope to eventually replace my current oil-burner with a modern EV, due to their high efficiency and reduced carbon footprint (even if it's using 100% coal for the electricity).   I'm also a big fan of Elon Musk and Tesla Motors.
